"Cullen, if this... if I'm not what you want, can you just tell me?" Aurae asked him, she was shuffling her hands around in her lap and looking anywhere but at him. He'd been acting weird for a while now. Distant. Not interested. She'd try to kiss him, hold his hand or even ruffle his hair as he sat hard at work behind his desk, but he just shrugged it off and claimed he was too busy.

She still came to his room every night. She sat alone in the corner and watching him work. He hardly spoke to her, never started a conversation and only gave simple answers to anything she said to him. After an hour or two she'd give up and retire to her own room, alone, and wonder what she'd done all of a sudden to make him act like this.

"Cullen?" she said again. Slightly louder to be sure he could hear her from her lonely corner. She managed to look up at him and he was staring straight at her. His face looked... pained. His brow was furrowed and his nose wrinkled. He opened his mouth as if to speak but closed it again and collapsed down into his chair, resting his head in his hand. Aurae slowly stood up and moved over to him, leaning on the desk. Her hand reached out to touch his shoulder but he swatted her away.

"Aurae..." Cullen looked up at her from his seat. He could see tears forming in her eyes. "I'm sorry."

Aurae stood up straight and moved away from him before he'd even finished speaking. She left the room without a word.
