the new guild [bloody hell i named this one]
He'd found her in the marketplace, or more like they found each other. Her long braids bounced on her chest as she sauntered towards him. There was an incredibly shiny bow on her back, probably boasting some kind of enchantment. He noticed her ears, elven, covered in piercings and poking out of her hair by a long way. She told him that she needed to find a strange old man that had possibly passed through the Ragged Flagon at some point recently, and he needed some new recruits to try and save his dwindling mess of a thieves guild.. After the exchange of information she confessed that she'd been planning on the joining up with the guild anyway and would be back to work for him as soon as, in her own words "this dumb dragon thing is outta my hair!" Brynjolf remembered her walking away from him waving back to him without looking, hips swaying side to side as she went.
At the time Brynjolf had assumed that she was just a bit mad. True, there were dragons roaming the skies but surely they had nothing to do with her? Maybe she was just scared of them or something? He brushed it off and went back to selling his totally-legit potions to anyone who was stupid enough to believe him.
A few months after their first meeting in the market place she waltzed into the flagon, threw her bag down and plopped herself into a seat beside him. "Right, that's the dragon thing done, where do you want me?" she smiled at him. Based on her change in appearance since they first met he could think of a million places that he wanted her, but figured it was best to stay professional, at least for a few days. Best not scare her off just yet.
Since the first time they'd met she'd cut her hair, even completely shaved it on one side. Her outfit was different too. Before she wore a tunic and leggings, but now she was dressed in a tightly fitted under-armour with a short skirt and a top that had pockets running across the front. She definitely looked more like a member of his organisation now.
"Well, lass, you certainly took your time with it." he joked
"Listen, you try takin' out Alduin faster than that. Being the Dragonborn is tough... I just want to sleep" she replied, collapsing onto her folded arms on the table. Brynjolf was taken aback.
"Dragonborn? You want me to believe that?"
She turned to him, looked him dead in the eyes and shouted
"FIEM ZII GRON"
A mist encased her, turning her ghostlike and ethereal.
[who knows where this was going but nice actual use of dovahzuul me well done.]

this one is good boiiii
[hey this one is pretty sweet actually wtf. brynjolf is a slut tho but then again i would be for daewen i love her.]
It was late evening and the light in the Ragged Flagon was low, the only thing keeping it from being pitch black were the half melted candles dotted around the tables. The only sound coming from the drips falling from the ceiling, which can't be helped when you're living in sewer.. Vex was out on a job and Delvin had snuck off to Haelga's bunkhouse to help her practice her Dibellan arts. Tonilia and Vekel had retired early to their room just past the bookcase with the false back that concealed the Thieves Guild's main hideout from anyone who happened to make it through the Ratway.
Brynjolf was sitting alone, a half drunk tankard of mead in his hand and a piece of almost stale bread with a few nibble marks in it sitting on the table in front of him. He often sat in here alone, waiting for the one Delvin jokingly called his 'protege' to return from whatever she was doing.. As the days turned into weeks of staying up until the wee hours for no good reason, or so he thought, he realised that he only did so when she wasn't around. Which was often. And he hated that. And he hated that it got to him.
Daewen. Bosmer; moved to Skyrim after a falling out with her rich, snooty family back in Valenwood. She'd been in Skyrim for only a short while before joining the Guild but fell perfectly in line with him. The Guild became both friends and family to her. Brynjolf tried to keep her as close as he could, hoping one day she'd fall for him as much as he had for her. He often told Vex and Delvin to give her jobs closer to home so she'd return sooner. A few times the jobs had been quite scarce and she'd be sent off to Solitude or Markarth, anywhere on the other side of Skyrim, and Brynjolf would stare daggers into his fellow thieves eyes as they handed out her assignment.
He drained the last few drops of mead from his tankard, not bothering to get up and refill it. Just then, he thought he heard something behind him. He sat silently and listened for any more sounds but heard nothing. He relaxed again and began poking at the bread in front of him, debating whether he was desperate enough to eat it or not.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Behind him the girl was silently sneaking up on him. The girl that Brynjolf had sat awake at night waiting for. The girl who had taken the Thieves Guild by storm and risen to the ranks of Guild Master all in a matter of months. Silently she'd entered the Cistern through the secret entrance in Riften's graveyard and made her way through the connecting tunnels into the Flagon. She held her breath as she approached him. She stood up to her full height right behind him, just as sneakily as she'd entered the room and slipped her hands in front of his face to cover his eyes.
"Guess who!" she giggled as he almost jumped out of his skin at her touch.
"Very funny, lass" Brynjolf replied, heart beating out of his chest, and not just because of the fright.
She sauntered around the table, grabbed one of the other chairs and pulled it over so she could sit beside him. She looked no different than when she'd left. Still in her same old skimpy leather armour that she'd modified from her guild master's uniform, not that he was complaining about the skimpiness of it. Still the same short, chocolate coloured hair that she always tried to tuck behind one ear but couldn't quite make it because it was the tiniest bit too short. Still the same lines of red warpaint drawn across her cheeks. She'd told him that she thought it made her look more fierce, which it didn't. Although she could kick some serious ass when she wanted to, she was far too short and pouty to ever be considered as fierce looking.
"What tales of dragon slaying and bandit killing do you have for me this time, lass?" he asked, actually longing to hear her stories just to hear her speak for a while. He noticed that her voice often flitted between that of a naughty schoolgirl and a sultry temptress, depending on the situation she was in. If she was recounting her recent adventures with the odd jester friend she often brought to the Flagon with her to the entire guild, commanding that they listen to her, it was the schoolgirl voice. If she wanted one of the merchants to give her a better price for some battered old weapon she'd pilfered from a bandit, the temptress. With Brynjolf, however, she spoke a lot more naturally. No personas, just herself. He liked that a lot. But maybe she could bring out that temptress voice a little more often around him. He wouldn't mind that all too much.
"Um..." she began, eyebrows furrowing, trying to think of anything she'd done since she was in Riften last. "Oh! I gotta show you something. See, I've been hanging out with the bards at the College in Solitude, real artsy those guys... and kinda weird. Anyway, one of them learnt tattoos! Look at this!" she jumped up from her chair and pulled her skirt down a little way to reveal a small tattoo on her left hip in the shape of the Shadowmark for 'guild'.
Brynjolf found it overwhelmingly attractive. He could feel his cheeks burning slightly. Before he could stop himself, he reached out and ran a finger across it. She shivered slightly at his cold touch and he recoiled, moving his hand away and trying to find something to do with it. He used it to move some hair out of his face, just so it was doing something other than spontaneously touching her. Daewen pulled her skirt back up and returned to her chair. He noticed after she sat down that her skirt was not up as far as it had been before and he couldn't help but keep peering down at it.
"So you approve, then?" she said, giggling at his reaction.
"Its.. well... Yeah, lass. It's nice" he stumbled over his words. Eyes continuing to drop down to where the small mark was sticking out above her belt.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Daewen reached forward and grabbed his tankard from the table. She let out a disappointed groan when she saw it was empty and hopped up from her chair to get her own drink. Brynjolf watched her walk over to Vekel's bar and stand behind it, grab two bottles of mead from behind it and lean over it to pour them into the two tankards like a proper little barmaid. He moved from his own chair to one in front of the bar and took his drink from her.
He'd sat in this exact spot the first time she'd stepped into the Ragged Flagon. He remembered her waddling up to him in leather armour much to big for her, with cuts and scrapes covering the exposed parts of her olive skin. and yelling "I was almost /killed/" in full view of the rest of the guild. He remembered she had much longer hair back then. It suited her perfectly, but he loved how she looked now. It was a lot more mature, sexier, even.
She was talking away to him about something or other but he was still lost in his imagination. His thoughts still clouded with images of the tattoo she'd just shown him. Imagining it without her pulling her skirt aside so that it could only just be seen. Daewen purposefully slammed her tankard down and folded her arms on the bar opposite him which pushed her breasts up a little, putting them directly in his view, snapping him back to reality.
"I thought that would get your attention" she breathed. He noted her tone. Why was she using the temptress voice with him? Was it finally about to go his way?

exctracted the good from that shitty danse story.
[i can't remember why she was crying and i can't be bothered to try and write more of this but boy do i love paladin danse.]
For the first time in his life, synth or not, he had someone who accepted him; who would always be there for him. Someone that, he now realised, loved him. And he loved her. Of course he did. His mind had been so full of Brotherhood nonsense that there had been no room for love, and relationships between soldiers was certainly forbidden. But he was free of that now. There was absolutely no reason that he could not act on this sudden realisation.
He scooped her up and sat her on the counter they were standing beside. Her legs dangled off the edge and their faces were now level. Danse used his thumbs to wipe the tears and smeared make up away from below her eyes. Looking confused, Dusty opened her mouth to speak but Danse shushed her. He got in as close to her as he could, standing right up close to the bar, her legs either side of him. With his hands still on her face he kissed her. It was fast and awkward and she was still crying, but it felt so nice.
He pulled away and she stared at him, eyes wide, her hands moving up to cover his on either side of her face. She tried to speak but nothing came out. The tears stopped and a weak smile now graced her soft, pink lips. The few seconds following the kiss felt like hours. Danse, who had not thought this far ahead, was now at a loss of what to do. The tingle of her touch on his skin was so much more intense now than it had ever been. He could have ignored it before but not now; and there was no way he was going to.
He looked directly into her eyes and then at all of the other angles of her face. Her nose and cheeks was littered with tiny freckles, her ears; three piercings one side, just the one on the other. Lastly, he noticed her scars. Where had they come from? How many times had they been fighting side by side as a raider or whatever they'd fought together had scarred her beautiful face.
He wanted to know everything about her now. They weren't just two soldiers working on the same team anymore, it was more than that and it had been for a long time now. He wanted her to be his, synth or not, he figured he deserved to feel this way, and he knew she felt the same. They way she acted around him. Everything she did was for him. Little gestures that had gone straight over his head before that were all making sense now.
He traced his thumb across the largest of the scars, the one running from her inner eye all the way to her jaw. It was only light, but raised enough for him to feel it.
"Assultron" she said quietly. "I was taking out some Gunners for Mac and one of them swiped me. It's why I wore that surgical mask for a while," she laughed at the memory "that thing was so dumb but I thought I looked cool. Like a true Commonwealth settler" Danse laughed with her. He'd told her a million times that the mask she wore was outside the Brotherhood of Steel's uniform code and that she must remove it at once but she always refused.
She began pointing out the other scars she had. A small one below her lip from a raider who had no idea what he was doing, burn marks across her arm caused by a feral trying to grab her at Hubris Comics and a few more insignificant ones that she couldn't even remember where they came from. Lastly, she unbuttoned her shirt from the bottom to show three large claw marks starting from her side and curving around towards her stomach.
"Deathclaw" Danse exclaimed, suddenly remembering. He was with her for this one. "When we were in the Museum of Witchcraft, correct?" She nodded. "That was... a lot of blood... You were out for a while... but I never left your side, soldier."
[real talk that museum of witchcraft shit really happened when i was playing so this is all canon to the game don't @ me.]

dumb and muddy
He stood there, boots slowly sinking into the soggy grass beneath him, a slight misty rain falling around him. It was fairly dark and cold now but he still waiting for her.
Aurae walked through the giant gate into Skyhold and spotted him instantly. A smile spread across her face as she ran to him. Cullen held out his arms as she leapt towards him, sending them both toppling to the ground. Aurae laughed but didn't get off of him, she just held on tightly as he tried to sit up. Luckily because of the rain there weren't many people outside to witness this.
Eventually she gave in and helped him up. His entire back, cloak and hair were soaked and covered in mud, as well as her hands and arms which she'd used to get up. It certainly wasn't the reunion he was expecting. Cullen folded his arms and tried to look as angry as he could at her, to which she responded by standing up on her tiptoes, putting her dirty, muddy hands on his face and kissing him. Hard.
He melted, giving up all hope of being mad at her for getting him covered in dirt. His arms found their way around her waist and he pulled her in tighter. She'd made it back to him, and that was all he cared about for now.
He broke away from her just enough to whisper into her ear "We should probably go..."
Aurae pulled back and looked up at him. "But you'll get mud all over my castle." she smirked. "You'll have to take that off"
His face turned beetroot red and his eyes widened at her suggestion. "Not here. We'll just have to walk very quickly to that private bathroom of yours. I'll try not to drip" Aurae's eyebrow raised and she lead him by the hand up into the castle.
[then they fucked but i didn't write it.]
unfinished unedited ficlets pls enjoy.

She wouldn't be gone long. Quick trip out to the Western Approach to set up the new fortress that the Inquisition has taken over with her team and a group of merchants and scouts that would be staying out there. She'd left very early in the morning, with a small ruffle of his hair as he lay half asleep in her bed. He continued to lay there for a few hours until the sun moved far enough across the sky that the light shone straight into his eyes.
Two weeks later and she was due back. By the time she actually returned it was getting dark. Cullen was sitting on the wall by the large gate pretending to read a book when he heard the sound of horses trotting across the bridge. The gate was raised and Aurae and her team sauntered through followed by a cart of resources they'd picked up on their travels. Cullen caught her eye and walked over to her. She swung her leg over the side of her horse and hopped down into his arms, motioning for someone else to tie the horse up.
"Welcome back." Cullen smiled at her and set her back down on the ground.
"Thanks. Miss me, much?"
"Only all the time," he replied "Some parts more than others" he smirked and put his hands around her waist, pulling her towards him. She stepped up onto her tiptoes and kissed him. Cullen's hands found their way slightly further south and he felt her smile through the kiss.
She broke apart from the him and took his hand, leading him up towards the castle. They walked together through the main hall and through into the first corridor leading to her room before Cullen decided that she was going to slowly and picked her up, throwing her over his shoulder and taking her the rest of the way. He pushed open the door to her room and dropped her down in the centre of the room.
"Cullen..." she said quietly. He wrapped his arms around her again. Aurae rested her head on the soft plumage of his cloak like it was a pillow. "I've had a really long day"
"You're that tired?" Cullen laughed, her reply coming in the form of a large yawn. He sat her down on the bed, found her some nightwear from the drawer and helped her into it before stripping out of his own armour.
Aurae stood up and looked at Cullen, she still wasn't used to seeing him out of armour, but she did enjoy the smile that spread across his face every time they were together. They got into the bed and pulled the covers all the way up. Cullen huddled up behind her and nuzzled his face into the back of her neck, slightly grazing the tip of her ear.
"You're not too... disappointed, are you?" she whispered.
"Of course not, I'm just glad you're back."
*******
"Cullen!"
"I'm working, Aurae"
"Buuuut..." she whined, slouching down into her chair as he gave her a stern look before returning to the multitude of notes and maps in front of him.
She'd been sitting here watching him work every night this week. Every book had been removed from his shelves and been deemed 'too boring' for her. She'd dusted and tidied the shelves, removed the cobwebs from his window and even made his bed for him, just for a chance to stay there with him.
Sometimes all there was to do was watch him work. Hurriedly writing down thoughts and then scrunching them up and throwing them into the bin beside his desk upon realising they wouldn't work. Moving tiny little models around the tiny little map, sometimes knocking them over and making a disgruntled noise. Once he even fell asleep and drooled all over the one set of notes that he'd been pleased with that night. A break was certainly needed, but how could Aurae make him take one?
wow imagine if i finished this it was really going places lmao.

A break was certainly needed, but how could Aurae make him take one?
wow imagine if i finished this it was really going places lmao.
this is sad and idk what to do with it
unfinished dragon age bullshit. idek where this was going. might as well post it lmao

"Cullen, if this... if I'm not what you want, can you just tell me?" Aurae asked him, she was shuffling her hands around in her lap and looking anywhere but at him. He'd been acting weird for a while now. Distant. Not interested. She'd try to kiss him, hold his hand or even ruffle his hair as he sat hard at work behind his desk, but he just shrugged it off and claimed he was too busy.
She still came to his room every night. She sat alone in the corner and watching him work. He hardly spoke to her, never started a conversation and only gave simple answers to anything she said to him. After an hour or two she'd give up and retire to her own room, alone, and wonder what she'd done all of a sudden to make him act like this.
"Cullen?" she said again. Slightly louder to be sure he could hear her from her lonely corner. She managed to look up at him and he was staring straight at her. His face looked... pained. His brow was furrowed and his nose wrinkled. He opened his mouth as if to speak but closed it again and collapsed down into his chair, resting his head in his hand. Aurae slowly stood up and moved over to him, leaning on the desk. Her hand reached out to touch his shoulder but he swatted her away.
"Aurae..." Cullen looked up at her from his seat. He could see tears forming in her eyes. "I'm sorry."
Aurae stood up straight and moved away from him before he'd even finished speaking. She left the room without a word.
